  • General und fundamental questions of the expansion of renewable energy in relation to nature conservation and landscape management, including interactions and synergies
  • Strategies to mitigate conflicts between the use of renewable energy, nature conservation and landscape management
  • Formulation of nature conservation positions on the comparison of different renewable energy sources with regard to the values and functions of the natural ecosystem, the countryside, recreational value and biodiversity
  • Knowledge management (collection, analysis and publication) on the thematic area of renewable energy and nature conservation/landscape management
  • Approval of encroachments on the marine environment in connection with BfN´s responsibilities as the competent authority for nature conservation in the EEZ, including the granting of exceptions (Section 30 (3), 33 (1) (second sentence) and 45 (7) of the Federal Nature Conservation Act/BNatSchG) and exemptions (section 67)
  • Involvement as consulting authority under section 58 (1) (second sentence), BNatschG, in approval proceedings conducted by other authorities under the Federal Mining Act (BBerG) or the Marine Facilities Ordinance (SeeAnlV) in the North Sea and Baltic Sea EEZ
