  • Processing applications for import and export permits and reexport certificates for parts and derivatives of species protected under CITES and the EU CITES Regulation
  • Processing importers’ applications for exemption from prohibitions on possession and marketing under the German Federal Nature Conservation Act
  • Processing appeals, actions and prosecutions relating to parts and derivatives, including providing assistance to other agencies and advice for investigations and proceedings
  • Involved in updating European and national species conservation law
  • Working with and providing training for agencies involved in species conservation
  • Intersectional and interdepartmental design and ongoing development of the departmental VIA species conservation enforcement software for IT-assisted processing of applications and prosecutions
