National Biodiversity Strategy
Article 6 of the CBD requires each party to develop a National Biodiversity Strategy and Action Plan (NBSAP) for implementation of the Convention’s objectives, to integrate the plan’s objectives into sectoral policies and to report to other parties about related efforts, successes and failures (reporting obligation). In this way, the Convention aims to ensure that conservation and sustainable use of biodiversity is given consideration and established as an integral part of all plans and decisions. The national strategies can provide a measure of each country’s progress in incorporating the CBD into national law and national policies.
The German National Biodiversity Strategy was adopted by cabinet resolution of 7 November 2007. The
strategy is available for downloading from the website of the German Ministry for the Environment.
