Hunted species protected according to Annex B to Regulation (EC) No. 338/97

The following regulations apply exclusively to trophies of species listed in Annex B to Council Regulation (EC) No. 338/97, hunted by the individual concerned.

For the import of these hunting trophies from third countries (countries outside of the European Union) for personal effects is there a requirement to present the original and a copy of the CITES export document from the country of origin or export at the customs office of entry. The customs office applies its import stamp to the copy of the export document and returns it to the importer. This document then constitutes the valid certificate of origin for the imported trophies. The original export document is forwarded by the customs office to the Federal Agency for Nature Conservation (BfN) for entry into its statistical records. In this case no import permit is required.

The concessions on the import of derivatives for personal effects can only be applied for species listed in Annex B to Council Regulation (EC) No. 338/97. These concessions are not applicable to live animals or imports for commercial purposes.
