* Bushes with Pinus mugo and Rhododendron hirsutum (Mugo-Rhododendretum hirsuti)
NATURA 2000 Code: *4070
Definition:
Scrub and krummholz formations (slow-growing and dwarf broadleaf or coniferous vegetation at the tree line) with Pinus mugo and Rhododendron hirsutum on neutral base-containing to calcareous soils in the Alps, predominantly in the subalpine zone, ranging from relatively open scrub formations to dense krummholz.
Notes on habitat mapping:
The delimitation is based on the presence of scrub and krummholz of the subalpine to alpine zones with the relevant vegetation. Low-growing heath formations, even if they contain individual Rhododendron hirsutum bushes, are to be considered under
Alpine and boreal heaths (4060).
