* Rupicolous calcareous or basophilic grasslands of the Alysso-Sedion albi

NATURA 2000 Code: *6110

Open, patchy communities of the Alysso-Sedion albi on exposed bedrock or loose rock, dominated by annuals and succulents. Natural examples are normally found on calcareous or base-rich hard substrates. Secondary sites which are subject to near-natural development (e.g. old quarry sites or spoil heaps) are included. Examples on dry-stone walls or on short-term deposits (e.g. disposal sites) are excluded.

Notes on habitat mapping:

As a general rule the entire area of exposed rock hosting the relevant vegetation should be included, if possible. Small areas of rock which are free of vegetation may be included. Closed swards of type  6210 and scrub or woodland over exposed rock are excluded. Examples of this type are mostly to be recorded as small local features as they are often located within expanses of other habitat types (e.g.  6210,  8210). In such instances the habitats should not be mapped as a complex but the examples of this type should be recorded as features within the more extensive habitat. Overlaps with siliceous rock with pioneer vegetation ( 8230) and scree ( 8210,  8160) are possible. In cases where this type occurs in intimate association with other habitat types, this type is to be recorded separately.
