Natura 2000 Habitats in Germany
Annex I of the Habitats Directive lists natural and near-natural habitats of Community interest whose conservation requires the designation of special conservation areas. Some 91 of the natural habitat types listed occur in Germany. The following lists and briefly describes the habitats occurring in Germany (abridged excerpt from Ssymank et al. 1998, Balzer et al. 2002, Balzer et al. 2004, Balzer & Ssymank 2005).
The numbers in front of the habitat types match the EU code for natural habitat types listed in the Habitats Directive. The descriptions match the original definitions contained in the consolidated version (which includes all additions and supplements) of the (
Habitats Directive 92/43/EEC (PDF).
