for upcoming bfn conference on:

„Year of the dolphin in Europe - Conservation of small cetaceans and marine protected areas“

The Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety BMUwww.bmu.de and the Federal Agency for Nature Conservation BFN www.bfn.de have the pleasure to announce an upcoming conference entitled Conservation of small cetaceans and marine protected areas in Europe. This conference will take place in cooperation with the German Oceanographic Museum DMM www.meeresmuseum.dein Stralsund from 29 October - 1 November 2007.

This international conference will be conducted in English. Three days of invited presentations are dedicated to (I) marine protected areas for cetaceans, (II) threats to small cetaceans and possible solutions, and (III) conservation science in the Baltic Sea and other EU waters. For further information, please, see the attached programme. The conference seeks to cover a wide range of actual and current topics in small cetacean conservation involving a broad range of interested participants such as scientists, conservation managers, policy makers and non-governmental organisations. We have invited speakers from across Europe. The number of participants will be limited to 120 persons.

The latest version of the programme can be found in the attached flyer. Feel free to share it with any colleagues who might be interested in the conference topic.
