Activities/Thematic Focus

  • 1. Fundamental issues relating to integrative nature conservation and sustainable use in agriculture and forestry
  • 2. Ongoing development of visions, policy instruments and methods for integrative nature conservation in agriculture and forestry, including with a view to the Common Agricultural Policy
  • 3. Development of recommendations for action and instruments for implementation of the National Strategy on Biological Diversity in the agricultural and forestry sector, including natural forest development, forest certification, contract-based nature conservation and organic farming
  • 4. Contributing in relation to nature-friendly land use to national, European and international agricultural, forestry, climate and nature conservation policies, including the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) and the Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC)
  • 5. Developing the scientific basis for nature-friendly land use and for ensuring the sustainable use of biodiversity in the agricultural and forestry sector, including specialist support for related funding projects
  • 6. Management of KoNA, the BfN centre of expertise on nature conservation in the farming countryside
