The Natura 2000 Network in light of the EU Biodiversity Strategy: Analysing challenges and discussing solutions
The aim of the conference is to discuss implementation options of the EU Nature Directives in light of the EU Biodiversity Strategy and the present results of the last reporting round. It addresses representatives of federal and state authorities in the field of nature conservation, managers and conservation specialists for implementing the Birds and Habitats Directive, as well as selected NGOs, researchers and Natura 2000 practitioners to discuss the following questions
Why are so many habitat types and species still in an unfavourable conservation status? What are the challenges in implementing the EU Nature Directives? How can the EU Nature Directives with its Natura-2000-Network contribute to the goals of the EU Biodiversity Strategy?
Which strategies are being developed among EU Member States to address conservation challenges and to reach favourable conservation status of protected habitats and species?
Which experience exists already for different habitat types or species across Europe? Which approaches are applied in LIFE Projects and how can Strategic Nature Projects contribute to a better implementation of the EU Nature Directives?
