Regulations on personal effects for citizens resident for more than 185 days of the year in a European Union country

For the first import of parts or derivatives of species listed in Annex A of Council Regulation (EC) No. 338/97 or of hunting trophies of species listed in Annex B of Council Regulation (EC) No. 338/97 as well in  Annex XIII of Commission Regulation (EC) No. 865/2006 for personal effects, the following documents must be presented to the German customs office at the point of import:

  • The original and the yellow copy of the import permit issued by the Federal Agency for Nature Conservation (BfN)

    and
  • the original CITES export or re-export document from the country of export

The original and the yellow copy of the import permit must be stamped by the customs office at the point of import (official seal and import date). The yellow copy is handed to the importer as proof of import in accordance with the legislation in force. The original of the CITES export or re-export document and the original of the import permit must be forwarded to the German Federal Agency for Nature Conservation (BfN)
