Planning and assessment
Balancing the interests of socially acceptable land use with those of nature and landscape conservation is addressed by the goals of nature conservation-based landscape management and by the various monitoring and assessment tools applied in planning and approving interventions under nature conservation law.
Landscape planning specifies the nature conservation goals, requirements and measures for various spatial levels. Taking a broad-based approach, it includes housing development in which the design of green and open spaces plays an important role.
Various tools contained in nature conservation law are designed to identify and assess impacts on nature and the natural landscape, for example from the planning and approval of infrastructure projects, and whether measures can be taken to prevent or offset them.
