Nature restoration
The restoration of nature is a key tool in nature conservation. Ecosystems that have been severely degraded, for example by intensive use, can be restored as ecologically valuable habitats. Beneficial ecosystem services become available again as a result. Restoring nature also plays an important role in addressing global challenges such as climate change and biodiversity loss. In the EU Regulation on Nature Restoration, the EU has committed to restoring large areas of terrestrial and marine nature.
