Large-scale nature conservation projects along the Green Belt

A number of large-scale conservation projects are already in progress or have been completed in especially valuable sections of the Green Belt that show major potential and are of nationally representative importance.

Completed projects

Elbe alluvial plain at Lenzen (Lenzener Elbtalaue)

Drömling (Saxony-Anhalt)

Drömling (Lower Saxony)

Ongoing projects

Eichsfeld-Werratal Green Belt

Rodachtal-Lange Berge-Steinachtal Green Belt

The last two of these projects place special focus on conserving and fostering the Green Belt in the context of the national ecological network.

The projects aim to preserve the structural diversity and habitat diversity of near-natural sections in the project area and to enhance selective development in some sections to restore their conservation value.
