Habitats Directive habitat types with changes in conservation status over the period 2007 to 2013

No improvement in Habitats Directive habitat types

The European Union’s Habitats Directive protects habitat types of Community interest. The protection objective is to bring these habitat types to favourable conservation status. The assessment of conservation status for these habitat types in the 2013 Habitats Directive report shows a further deterioration in 13 instances (for 11 habitat types) compared with the findings of the 2007 Habitats Directive report. In six instances, this relates to habitat types that depend on sustained grazing or habitat management (such as hay meadows, inland dunes and heaths).
