Aircraft relevant Bird Areas (ABA)
Since 2007, the so-called Aircraft Relevant Bird Areas (ABA) have been included in the aeronautical maps. These are areas with high bird numbers during the resting and migration periods and areas with "particularly disturbance-sensitive" (large bird) species. The markings and notes enable pilots to more easily recognise bird strike risks and avoid disturbances. The fact sheets provide a wide range of background information on the more than 200 areas nationwide.
