On our behalf (German Federal Agency for Nature Conservation) the Michael Succow Foundation and EUROPARC Deutschland organise the International Workshop on Insect Conservation in European UNESCO Biosphere Reserves. The program comprises exchange sessions, best practice presentations and expert talks on insect conservation approaches, plus excursions to insect conservation projects in Biosphere Reserve Berchtesgadener Land.

Please save the date: 4th-7th November 2019 in Berchtesgaden/Bavaria, Germany, Nationalparkzentrum "Haus der Berge"

Preliminary workshop topics:

  • Insect conservation in agriculture, forestry, water management and urban spaces – best practices and need for action
  • Strategies, policies and indicators for insect conservation
  • Mechanisms for implementation and advisory services for insect conservation projects
  • Participation of stakeholders and population in practical insect conservation

Participants will be experts such as biosphere reserve managers and practitioners, but also researchers – to facilitate an enriching exchange on burning issues in biosphere reserves. We call for your contributions and presentations for a comprehensive and diversified workshop program!

The workshop will be part of a three-part workshop series on biosphere reserve related issues in Europe. The workshop series running from 2019-2021 is financed by the German Federal Agency for Nature Conservation with support by BMU (Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety) and organized by the Michael Succow Foundation and EUROPARC Deutschland as partners in the biosphere.center.

Detailed information will be published shortly on this homepage!

Please contact Kirsten Meuer from the Michael Succow Foundation if you are interested to give a presentation or other contribution to the workshop.

We are looking forward having an inspiring and productive workshop!
