Internationally designated areas are on the rise, making MIDAs more common. While MIDAs have significant potential to contribute to global biodiversity, climate and sustainability goals, they also add complexity and present management challenges. Effectively and equitably managing these overlaps requires an integrated approach that respects the requirements of each designation. This workshop will draw on lessons learned over the past decade and will convene decision-makers and practitioners to highlight barriers, knowledge gaps and opportunities to enhance effectiveness across international designations.
