International Exchange Workshop of the Alpine Biodiversity Board
As a result of climate change and other significant drivers, biodiversity in the Alps is lost at an alarming rate. Governments aim to counteract this situation by developing and implementing respective strategies. This peer exchange and learning event aims at increasing alignment and efficiency in the implementation of biodiversity strategies in the Alpine region. The specific focus is set on National Biodiversity Strategies and Action Plans (NBASPs), which are currently updated in a number of Alpine countries. The workshop also aims at enhancing transboundary cooperation on setting and implementing biodiversity targets. In the first part of the workshop, national focal points responsible for the NBSAP processes will exchange on the state of the art and jointly identify common challenges and opportunities, specifically with regard to mountain biodiversity. In the seconds part, the ways and instruments for implementing the EU Biodiversity Strategy for 2030 and the new CBD Post-2020 Global Biodiversity Framework (GBF) in the Alpine context will be explored.
