Ecosystem restoration is gaining momentum in science and policy as a process that can tackle biodiversity loss, climate change and other societal challenges. The human and social dimensions of restoration projects however, deserve more attention and emphasis.
The workshop on 17th-19th October 2023 in Bonn, Germany will bring together European experts from science, policy and practice to discuss how inclusive, rights-based design and planning processes, and participatory, multistakeholder implementation can be strengthened to ensure the engagement of local communities and other stakeholders in nature restoration and increase acceptance, social licence, ownership and sustainability of the interventions in the long-term.
