From 4–8 August 2025, participants and speakers from 16 countries met at the International Academy for Nature Conservation on the Isle of Vilm for the seminar “Putting Nature on a Path to Recovery – Innovations in Ecosystem Restoration.”

Through interactive sessions, case studies and a field visit, they intensively exchanged on the pivotal role of ecosystem restoration in achieving sustainable development.
The seminar, organised annually by BfN, GIZ and KfW as part of a long-running series on nature conservation in development cooperation, showcased innovative approaches, from policy and finance solutions to on-the-ground practices, fostering collaboration and sharing of experiences across regions.
