Alpine Larix decidua and/or Pinus cembra forests

Larch forests and larch-Swiss stone pine forests at the sub-alpine timberline, in Germany for instance in the Berchtesgaden Alps on deep 'Tangel' (raw humus) rendzinas. European larch and Swiss stone pine may form either pure or mixed stands, and may be associated with spruce. Canopy cover is often as low as 30-60%.
