Notes on habitat mapping

A precondition for assignment to this habitat type is the occurrence of vegetation of the stated syntaxa in the natural range of the two sour cherry species. Isolated Prunus fruticosa or Prunus mahaleb and planted stands should not be included.

Occurrences in close combination with cotoneaster/serviceberry communities (Cotoneastro-Amelanchieretum) should also be included.

Transitions to thermophilous woodland/scrub-fringe vegetation (Trifolio-Geranietea) are included if they contain significant proportions of the tree and shrub species characteristic for the habitat type.

Buxus-rich occurrences of mahaleb cherry communities are assigned to natural habitat type 5110.

For site delimitation, adjoining dry fringes and other dry vegetation must be included.
