The conference aimed at continuing the European exchange of experience on the assessment of plans and projects significantly affecting Natura 2000 sites in accordance with Article 6 (3) and (4) of the Habitats Directive (92/43/EEC). The assessment requirements of Article 6 of the Habitats Directive establish a multi-stage approach. Generally, the procedure is comprised of up to three main stages: the screening stage, the Appropriate Assessment stage and the exception procedure.
