The European Study on protected area management effectiveness (PAME) evaluation was conducted between May 2009 and March 2010. Its main purpose was to provide an overview of existing PAME evaluation in European countries, notably with respect to extent of application, methodologies and assessment results.

Description

The survey was led by the Universities of Greifswald and Queensland in partnership with the UNEP World Conservation Monitoring Centre, EUROPARC Federation and the German Federal Agency for Nature Conservation (BfN), the latter of which also provided financial support. The study had three principal objectives; our finding in relation to each are outlined below.
