By sharing experience and expertise this workshop aimed at helping the implementation of the EU Habitats and Birds Directives in the marine environment. Further objectives were to develop some guidance on the most pressing management issues of NATURA 2000 sites and to clarify some legal issues arising when applying the Habitats and Birds Directives in the marine envi-ronment.
