Vilm, 24/09/2019. In a work meeting held from 23 to 24 September 2019, the INA Advisory Council discussed the direction the academy is to take in the coming years. The president of the BfN, Prof. Beate Jessel, presented the development of BfN and INA in recent years.

The focus of discussions were the medium-term work programme and its relation to global developments, challenges and opportunities, particularly in the focal regions of the INA.

This aims at strengthening INA's role, be it as a centre of excellence for capacity development, as a supporter of key nature conservation agreements, or as a catalyst for strategic debates on nature conservation in Germany. In addition, the INA would like to further strengthen existing partnerships with important German and international partners and establish itself as a builder of new coalitions. In order to achieve these goals, the INA wants to improve its communication and visibility and also further develop itself in organizational terms. In addition to the programme, the Advisory Board members developed ideas how the Advisory Council can support INA more effectively.

The Advisory Council consists of twelve national and international experts from research institutions, international and national NGOs, development cooperation as well as from the German parliament. (Photo: Tina Keichel, BfN)
