BfN in cooperation with the OZEANEUM invite to the international Conference “Progress in Marine Conservation – how to stop marine biodiversity loss - from knowledge to action” from 18-22 September 2023 in Stralsund / Germany.

Depending on water conditions, reefs form a biodiverse habitat with species-rich benthic communities

The in-person conference at the famous OZEANEUM Stralsund will be structured around plenary sessions and workshops on three main topics: marine protected areas and 30/10 target, offshore wind energy and fisheries (management). On Monday, 18th, we will start with a panel discussion.

Multiple stressors are increasingly challenging marine ecosystems and require effective actions in the context of climate and biodiversity crises. Current EU guidelines and strategies as well as the two UN decades provide an essential framework. In all countries, we have to undertake considerable joint efforts to improve the state of the seas, to implement effectively managed marine protected areas for species and habitats and at the same time to enable sustainable use of marine resources. To improve our activities, measures and policies we would like to give a substantial impetus to this discussion.

We are glad to present the draft programme as of August 15th, with a high number of exciting plenary talks and interesting workshops. There are just a few places left in the workshops, therefore register as soon as possible.

The programme and the registration form can be found at the BfN website.
