This in-depth report presents detailed scientific analyses on youth nature awareness in 2021. They are based on a representative survey on nature awareness among teenagers aged 14 to 17, which was conducted on behalf of the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Nuclear Safety and Consumer Protection (BMUV) and the Federal Agency for Nature Conservation (BfN) as part of the 2021 Nature Awareness Study.

Description
A direct comparison of the findings on adult awareness has already been published in the context of the basic data brochure (BMUV and BfN 2023). In addition, this brochure presents comparisons between different socio-demographic subgroups (age, gender, level of education, etc.) and youth lifeworlds (according to the SINUS model for youth lifeworlds), as well as some further findings that could not be related to the response behaviour of the adult population.
In the following, central results of these in-depth analyses are first summarised in the form of core statements and recommendations for nature conservation communication and nature conservation practice.
