German Federal Agency for Nature Conservation (BfN)

International Academy for Nature Conservation

The International Academy for Nature Conservation (INA) is part of a branch office of the German Federal Agency for Nature Conservation (BfN). The Academy and the central administration of the branch office Island of Vilm form the staff unit "International Academy for Nature Conservation, Administration of Vilm".

It provides a forum for the discussion and solution of national and international nature conservation issues. It is a place for debate among conservation experts and communication between the German Federal Government and the Länder (states). This makes it a centre for dialogue between representatives of many different fields, including: science and public administration, politicians and industry, associations and foundations.

Due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, we unfortunately have to cancel or postpone all international events until 15 July 2020, and all national events until 20 June 2020, for now. We may have to cancel further events beyond those dates. If an event for which you registered is going to be cancelled or postponed, we will contact you via email. We continue to be available for you by phone or email.

Also, excursions and school trips to the Isle of Vilm cannot be held until 15 July 2020. For any questions regarding touristic excursions, kindly contact the Fahrgastreederei Lenz (Phone: 038301-61896).

Vilm’s landscape has inspired generations of artists. We continue in this tradition by showing permanent and temporary exhibitions of different artists’ work. To mark the seasons of the year, we also welcome musicians to the Isle of Vilm for special concerts.
