The new Discussion paper clarifies key concepts and approaches related to strengthening synergies and tackling trade-offs, and presents concrete recommendations for action. A special focus lies on improving policy coherence, integrating social considerations, and unlocking funding for synergy measures such as nature-based solutions (NbS). The publication is based on the valuable expert contributions gathered at the international workshop “Strengthening synergies for biodiversity and climate in multifunctional landscapes” organised by BfN in 2022.
