BfN Schriften 344 - The Protection of Forests under Global Biodiversity and Climate Policies Policy Options and Case Studies on Greening REDD+
This report presents the findings of the research and development project “The protection of forests under global biodiversity and climate policy”, carried out at the Chair of Forest and Environmental Policy and the Chair of Landscape Management, Freiburg University, Germany, between July 2009 and December 2012.
Federal Agency for Nature Conservation
The main goal of the project was to analyze the potential risks opportunities of REDD+ for forest biodiversity conservation and to develop options for REDD+ implementation that promote synergies between the climate and biodiversity goals. By analyzing the developments at the international policy level, the national level as well as the project level, the report identifies the core challenges for the implementation of biodiversity safeguards and the generation of additional biodiversity benefits at and across the different but intricately linked governance levels.
