Hintergrundpapier
Coastal Ecosystem-based Adaptation (EbA) uses ecosystems such as mangroves, coral reefs and coastal wetlands to reduce climate risks while supporting biodiversity and local livelihoods. This discussion paper takes stock of coastal EbA in tropical and subtropical regions and focuses on how such measures can be financed in practice.

Beschreibung
It provides an overview of financing instruments, including grants, debt-for-nature swaps, blue carbon and biodiversity credits, payments for ecosystem services, community eco-credit models and parametric insurance. Drawing on case studies and practitioner insights, it discusses enabling conditions, governance needs and practical constraints for applying these in-struments in different coastal contexts.
